All Blacks coaches took time out from the heat of preparing for Saturday’s Bledisloe Cup decider by sharing a round of golf with leading Kiwi men’s golfer Ryan Fox at the Muriwai Golf Club on Wednesday.

Fox’s father is national selector Grant Fox, a former All Blacks first five-eighth, but only head coach Steve Hansen and assistants Scott McLeod and Ian Foster seemed present on the course in Muriwai.

“Great day out with @muriwai_golf_links with a few guys that know a thing or two about rugby,” Fox posted on Instagram.

“Cool to be able to chat to these guys on my turf. Go the All Blacks this weekend!!”

Wednesday is typically the day off for the All Blacks in the week building up to a test.

Fox is back home after achieving his best finish in a major at last month’s British Open, concluding with an impressive final round to secure a tie for 16th after a record-breaking back nine at the Open in his first round.

Meanwhile, the All Blacks are attempting to bounce back from last weekend’s crushing 47-26 defeat to the Wallabies and their 17-year reign as holders of the Bledisloe Cup goes on the line on Saturday night at Eden Park, a venue where the All Blacks have not lost a test since 1994.

The All Blacks and Wallabies name their teams publicly for the second Bledisloe test on Thursday. The rematch is shaping as the biggest game of rugby on New Zealand soil since the deciding test of the 2017 series between the All Blacks and the British and Irish Lions. That was drawn 15-15, so the series was tied 1-1.
